An Abandoned and Charming Town: Craco

An entire empty town. Just abandoned due to eartquakes. Craco, near Matera in South of Italy, is a ghost town today. It had actually an interesting and long history. Craco was found in VIII century B.C. probably Greek, then Bizantine then Norman. There was even an University. Then in past century, Craco was a victim of a huge landslide then an eartquake and 2000 inhabitants at the time decided to move somewhere else.
Craco is today an amazing town, still alive in its memories built up in the palaces and church, still there as in the past centuries. Craco has even become a set for movies as the Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.

A Bell Tower Coming Out From a Lake

In north of Italy, in the province of Bozen, gorgeous lak reflects sky and mountains on its quiet surface. A quiet, frequent and still stunning landscape in the area. Lake Reschen (Lago di Resia in Italian) has a peculiarity. Calm surface is interrupted all at once by a a 14th century belfry. Still perfect, still charming, apparently floating on the lake like a boat.

The bell tower of Curon (Graun) was built on 1357. It has been restored. The annexed church lies down at the bottom of lake. This has been made by the much more recent system of dykes.

A peculiarity: because of winter freeze, bell tower can be reached.. on foot.

Carbost in the Isle of Skye. Nature and.. Whisky

The marvellous Isle of Skye is definitely one of the most enchanting of Scotland. Made of amazing cliffs, castle and history represent at its best the idea of northern lands and Scotland. Carbost is a village in the isle with several attractions. Different each other. Carbost is good to have a taste of real Scotland.

There is the Talisker Distillery. Open to tourist, whisky lovers and not, for guided tours. Talisker is one of the most famous name for whisky. Need something to eat because you maybe .. tipsy? Have a walk to Isle of Skye Oyster, still in Carbost, a large place to eat oysters just brought by fishermen. Rustic, easy, simple and, maybe for all these reasons, amazing.

Carbost is nature too. Great nature. Little far away from village, at the bottom of Black Cuillins near Glenbrittle, are the stunning Fairy Pools, water falls and pools for an unusual setting for a 'different' swim. Be aware, water can be.. cold. Prefer your jumper on? Fairy Pools are still a great place to take photos..

Longest Edge Maze Ever.. in England.

While young you surely get lost in some fun maze around the world. 5 minutes you were out. 6t minute in probably your dad helped you get off. In England there is a much much harder maze. A big deal of 2 miles.

Built in Longleat in 1975, it has been made by over 16.000 small little trees. Goal is to reach the central tower, and the way out. It can take even more than a hour to get off.

It actually not only a maze. There is a wide offers of facilities. From accommodations on, they have animals too (giraffes, lions, etc,) and several offers for families and business segment.

Worth a visit and a lot of patience...

River Surfing in Europe. Eisbach, Munchen.

Ocean waves are the normal and common surface to have best surfing. There is something different, smaller and stronger, exciting and intriguing: river waves. Are you a surfing lover? Next time don't book a flight for Hawaii or California. Have you ever though of going to Germaniy? Eisbach, in Munchen, is actually a great setting for a great surfing.. on a river.
River there is much appreciate and many surfers enjoy it during the day. Tumultuos streaming make it very exciting.

In Munchen are several spots for surfing. Floßlände, pretty good for principiants, famous Eisbachwelle, also on Eisbach is the Welle E2.

Not a surfer? Surfers are still a nice view and a interesting opportunity to take some unusual photos, best from Isar bridge, from Prinzregentenstraße.

Unusal SPA in a .. Volcano

Not far from Cartagena (only 45 minutes distance) there is an estinguished Volcano used to have lava and fire now only .. mud. A peculiar mud. Volcán de Lodo El Totumo, as it is named, is today a 50-foot-tall mud bath. A real natural SPA where tourists climb up to immerse through the top entrance to literally 'swim' in therapeutic minerals.. my be not great to look ut, anyway apparently very healty and surely unusual...
